Der zweite Streich: Watkins ließ Joe Gomez und Virgil van Dijk alt aussehen und erzielte nach etwas mehr als 20 Minuten sein zweites Tor für Villa. Gomez war schon zu diesem Zeitpunkt bedient.

Die Gastgeber aus Birmingham zeigten sich wahnsinnig effizient vor dem Tor und nutzten jeden Patzer der Liverpooler Verteidigung aus. Nach einem Freistoß kam Watkins völlig frei zum Kopfball. Der Engländer vollendete vor der Pause seinen Hattrick.

Villas Starspieler Jack Grealish durfte sich auch noch in die Torschützenliste eintragen. Der Kapitän der Villans erzielte noch zwei Tore und verschlimmerte Liverpools desaströse Lage. Der zweite Anschlusstreffer von Mohamed Salah ging beinahe komplett unter.
